The Ultimate Guide to Senior & Graduation Pictures in Metro Atlanta

Everything You Need to Know Before Your Senior Session

Graduating from high school or college is one of life's biggest milestones.

Whether you're celebrating your senior year, earning your college degree, or simply documenting this exciting season of life, your graduation photos should capture who you are—not just what you look like.

As a Metro Atlanta photographer, I love helping seniors feel confident, relaxed, and genuinely themselves in front of the camera.

If you're planning your session, here's everything you need to know.

Why Senior Pictures Matter

Senior portraits become part of your family's story.

They'll be shared on graduation announcements, displayed at graduation parties, printed for family members, and remembered for years to come.

This is more than a photoshoot—it's a celebration of everything you've accomplished.

When Should You Schedule Your Senior Pictures?

The best time depends on when you need your photos.

Spring Seniors

Schedule your session between March and May.

Fall Seniors

Book between September and November.

College Graduates

Book your session 4–8 weeks before graduation.

Booking early also gives you plenty of time to order graduation announcements and gifts.

What Should You Wear?

Your outfit can completely change the feel of your images.

I recommend bringing:

✔ One casual outfit

Think jeans, sneakers, sweaters, or your favorite dress.

✔ One dressy outfit

Perfect for graduation announcements and family portraits.

✔ School Spirit Outfit

  • Letterman jacket

  • Cheer uniform

  • Sports uniform

  • Band uniform

  • Club shirt

These make your gallery much more personal.

✔ Cap and Gown

Don't forget it!

Many seniors forget to bring their cap and tassel.

Outfit Tips

Choose solid colors.

Avoid busy patterns.

Wear something you feel confident wearing.

Bring wrinkle-free clothing.

Make sure your shoes are clean.
