A Romantic Valentine's Day Elopement at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia
Some love stories don't need a ballroom, a guest list of 200 people, or months of planning. Sometimes all they need is two people, a beautiful park, and the promise to spend forever together.
This Valentine's Day, I had the honor of photographing a beautiful private elopement at Piedmont Park in the heart of Atlanta. At the couple's request, I'm keeping their identities private, but I couldn't resist sharing the beauty of their day and why Piedmont Park continues to be one of my favorite places for intimate weddings.
Why Piedmont Park Is One of the Best Places to Elope in Atlanta
If you're dreaming of an outdoor ceremony surrounded by nature without leaving the city, Piedmont Park offers one of the most romantic settings in Metro Atlanta.
With its walking paths, skyline views, open green spaces, lake, bridges, and mature trees, every corner of the park creates a different backdrop for wedding portraits.
Whether you're planning a simple ceremony with just the two of you or inviting a handful of your closest family members, the park provides an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere that feels timeless.
One of my favorite things about photographing elopements here is how quickly we can move from one beautiful location to another without ever leaving the park.
A Valentine's Day Filled with Love
There couldn't have been a more fitting day to celebrate their marriage than Valentine's Day.
Instead of focusing on a large wedding, this couple chose something far more personal, a quiet ceremony where the only thing that truly mattered was the commitment they were making to one another.
After exchanging vows, we explored several areas throughout Piedmont Park, capturing genuine moments of laughter, quiet embraces, and joyful celebration.
Some of my favorite images weren't posed at all. They happened naturally as they walked hand in hand, soaking in the excitement of becoming husband and wife.
Those authentic moments are always the ones couples treasure most.
The Beauty of Choosing an Intimate Wedding
One of the biggest misconceptions about elopements is that they're less meaningful than traditional weddings.
In my experience, it's often the opposite.
When couples remove the pressure of planning a large event, they create space to be fully present with each other.
Every conversation feels more intentional.
Every hug lasts a little longer.
Every photograph tells a more personal story.
An intimate wedding allows your day to revolve around your relationship instead of a timeline.
Tips for Planning a Piedmont Park Elopement
If you're considering eloping at Piedmont Park, here are a few tips:
Plan your ceremony during sunrise or golden hour for the softest, most flattering light.
Weekdays are typically quieter than weekends.
Wear comfortable shoes between portrait locations—you can always change into dress shoes for photos.
Check whether your ceremony location requires a permit depending on the size of your gathering.
Consider bringing a small bouquet to add color and elegance to your portraits.
